Mahbubul Khalid`s song heightens Eid delight (video) https://dailyeconomist.net/showbiz/news/27141/ https://dailyeconomist.net/showbiz/news/27141/#respond Fri, 14 May 2021 00:10:20 +0000 https://dailyeconomist.net/?p=27141 Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims across the world, is being celebrated in Bangladesh with due solemnity, religious fervor and zeal. The festival marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Like the previous year, this year Eid is being celebrated in a different scenario without any outdoor programme and Eid jamaat at Eidgahs across the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Traditionally, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated with joy and festivities. On this day, Muslims wear the best dress they have and offer Eid prayers. They greet each other with ‘Eid Mubarak’, which means ‘have a blessed Eid’. Muslims also visit the graves of their loved ones. Muslims give donations to the poor, known as Zakat al-Fitr, or charity of fast-breaking. They believe that after Ramadan their sins are forgiven. Children are given gifts on Eid that is called Eidi, which can be in the form of money, accessories, food and flowers.

Renowned Bangladeshi poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned a song on the holy occasion that’s highlights the significance of the day. Late Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul had composed the music of the song titled ‘Eid Elo Re’ (Eid has Arrived). Young and promising singers Rafsan and Saran rendered their voices to the song.
The song has been published on ‘www.khalidsangeet.com’, a website that contains the songs and poems of Mahbubul Khalid. Besides, videos of the song has also been released on YouTube’s ‘Khalid Sangeet’ channel. A fresh music video was released on the eve of Eid where four models Pranon, Shanta, Nayon and Salehin appeared.

About the song, lyricist Mahbubul Khalid said: Eid-ul-Fitr comes with the blessings of God. The holy festival removes the difference between the rich and the poor. They all appear to Allah together to perform prayer and exchange Eid greetings embracing each other. Eid brings harmony and amity among people. These messages are conveyed in this song. Hope all will love it.

Mentionable, the poems and songs written by Mahbubul Khalid contain religious and social festivals of different religions. He writes and composes songs for all humankind irrespective of race, religion and caste. To him, music is not for any race or religion, music is for everyone. His songs and poems are rich with the message of love and humanity.

Apart from Eid-ul-Fitr, Mahbubul Khalid also wrote songs about on the Muslim religious festivals of Ramadan, Shab-e-Barat, Shab-e-Qadr, Shab-e-Meraj, Eid-ul-Azha, Hajj, Eid-e-Miladunnabi etc. He has also written songs on other religious festivals such as Durga Puja, Mahalaya, Lord Krishna and Holi of Hindus, Christmas of Christians, Buddha Purnima of Buddhists and so on. These songs written by Mahbubul Khalid clearly show the perspectives and significances of the respective days and festivals.

Kangana tests Covid-19 positive https://dailyeconomist.net/showbiz/news/26949/ https://dailyeconomist.net/showbiz/news/26949/#respond Sat, 08 May 2021 07:18:59 +0000 https://dailyeconomist.net/?p=26949 The World Trade Organization chief on Thursday hailed US Trade Representative Katherine Tai’s announcement that Washington supports a temporary global waiver on patent protections for Covid-19 vaccines as the pandemic rages.

“I warmly welcome her willingness to engage with proponents of a temporary waiver of the TRIPS agreement to help in combating the Covid-19 pandemic,” Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said in a statement, read to reporters by her spokesman Keith Rockwell, reports AFP.

Tai issued a statement Wednesday signalling the shift in Washington’s position towards an intellectual property waiver on the vaccines needed to battle the pandemic.

“This is a global health crisis, and the extraordinary circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic call for extraordinary measures,” she said.

The global trade body has for months been facing calls led by India and South Africa to temporarily remove the intellectual property protections on Covid-19 vaccines, in a move proponents say would help boost production in developing countries that so far have received far fewer jabs.

But that notion had until now met fierce opposition from pharmaceutical giants and their host countries, including the United States, which had insisted patents were not the main roadblocks to scaling up production, and warned the move could hamper innovation.

The positions appeared to be shifting rapidly Thursday, with French, German and EU leaders, among others, saying they were now ready to discuss a waiver proposal.

Okonjo-Iweala had stressed the urgency of the situation during a two-day meeting of the organisation’s general council that wrapped up Thursday, Rockwell said.

“We need to respond urgently to Covid-19 because the world is watching, and people are dying,” she said in her statement.

The former Nigerian minister for finance and foreign affairs, who became the first woman and first African to take the helm of the WTO on March 1, had also hailed signs of compromise from the countries behind the original proposal.

India and South Africa have indicated they plan to “revise their proposal”, with a new text expected next week with possible “compromises”, Rockwell said Wednesday.

“I am pleased that the proponents are preparing a revision to their proposal, and I urge them to put this on the table, as soon as possible so that text-based negotiations can commence,” Okonjo-Iweala said in her statement.

“It is only by sitting down together that we will find a pragmatic way forward, acceptable to all members, which enhances developing countries’ access to vaccines, while protecting and sustaining the research and innovation so vital to the production of these life-saving vaccines.”
