Fear of landslide, road closed for three months

Fearing landslides amid incessant rainfall, the six-kilometer-long Bayejid-Faujdarhat road has been closed.

According to the Chattogram Development Authority, all types of vehicles will not be allowed to ply on the road for two to three months from Tuesday (June 8).

Hasan Bin Shams, chief engineer of the Chattogram Development Authority, confirmed the information to risingbd.

It is learnt that the Dhaka-Chattogram highway link road from Bayejid to Faujdarhat was constructed completely through the hills. In particular, up to 4 km road from Arefin Nagar area, the road was built by cutting hills on both sides. The road was opened last year and it has become a popular tourist destination for many people.

As the monsoon rain begins, fear of landslides grips in the area.
