BCIC, KSCL ink deal to export urea for supporting Nepal

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and Krishi Samagri Company Limited (KSCL) of Nepal today inked a 50- thousand tonnes urea export agreement for supporting the government of Nepal.

BCIC Chairman (Additional Charge) Md Aminul Ahsan and Managing Director of KSCL Netra Bahadur Bhandari signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at a function at the Industries Ministry in the city, said a press release.

Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam, Nepal Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Banshidhar Mishra and senior officials of the Industries Ministry, BCIC and Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO), among others, were present on the occasion.

In his speech, KM Ali Azam said that considering the needs of the people of Nepal, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave necessary instructions to the cooperation in this regard.

He said that even though Bangladesh imported fertilizers to meet its own needs, the country has extended the hand of friendship by signing the agreement to export fertilizers to the urgent needs of the friendly neighboring country Nepal.
