Total awards Maersk two deep water drilling contracts

Based on the previously announced Conditional Letter of Award, Maersk Drilling has been awarded the contract for Total E&P Suriname, Deep Water Rigs Maersk Valiant from the Suriname Branch and Marsk Developer for the total exploration and evaluation project in Block 56, Suriname.

Assign approximate combined total duration for 500 days. The Maersk developer is expected to begin operations in January 2021, and the Maersk Valiant is expected to begin operations in March 2021.

The total cost of the firm contract is approximately US M 100 MM, which includes rig replacement, integrated service delivery, and consolidation fees for the Maersk Valiant. The agreement includes various extension options.

“We are thrilled to have consolidated these agreements and to further our long-term relationship with Total which has a great track record from our cooperation in many deep water exploration projects. We are pleased with our presence in the exciting Suriname-Guyana Basin and will be able to take advantage of the fact that Suriname is already managing the offer to launch operations quickly with the provision of multiple integrated agencies to maximize efficiency,” said Morten Kelstrup, COO of Maersk Drilling.
