A fire broke out on the Kalmilata ferry which left for Bhola from Maju Chowdhury Ghat in Lakshmipur.

No casualties were reported in this connection although seven trucks which were on the ferry were burnt.

The fire originated when the ferry was on the middle of Meghna River around 4:15 am on Thursday (April 8).

On information, members of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Md Parvez, Bhola Ilisha Ghat Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), has confirmed the matter.
