Authorities have extended the strict lockdown in Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas of Cox’s Bazar and five Rohingya camps till June 6 in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Teknaf UNO Md Parvej Chowdhury and Ukhia UNO Nijam Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.
Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in the region, a 10-day complete lockdown was imposed in Teknaf upazila and in five Ukhiya camps- 2,3,4,15 and 24- from May 21.
All activities in these camps have been suspended, except emergency services like medicine and food supplies, officials said.
