Khulna is now the ‘hotspot’ of coronavirus and infection rate is increasing day by day in Khulna, there is no space in hospitals, there are no beds available. There is also an acute shortage of oxygen in the hospitals.
Last Thursday (July 1), the highest number of 39 people died in Khulna division. But there are not enough arrangements for treatment in the division. Patients and relatives are crying for hospital beds and oxygen.
Meanwhile, the health department has taken an initiative to increase the number of beds by 115 to resolve the bed crisis. Among these, a new 45-bed corona unit will be set up at Khulna’s Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital and a 130-bed dedicated corona hospital run by Khulna Medical College Hospital are being upgraded to 200 beds.
On Thursday, Khulna division reported 39 more coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths. Some 1,245 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the division over the same period.
According to the office of divisional director of health, seven people died of coronavirus infections in Jashore, one in Bagerhat, eight in Khulna, four each in Satkhira and Jhenaidah, three each in Narail and Meherpur, two in Chuadanga, seven in Kushtia.
