Around 30 houses were gutted in a devastating fire at a slum named SRD colony in Agrabad DT road area of Chattogram on Saturday (December 11) morning.

The fire originated at the slum around 4:30 am.

Faruk Uddin, deputy director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed the matter.

On information, five vehicles of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control around 6:00am, heFaruk Uddin said.

Around 30 shanties were gutted in the fire. But, no casualty was reported, he said.

Cause and extent of damages in the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
