Joe Biden on Wednesday (January 20) took the oath as the 46th President of the United States of America.

He was sworn in by Chief Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.

The oath taking ceremony was held around 11:33 pm (local time).

Earlier, Kamala Harris took the oath of office as the Vice President.

Harris officially become the first female, first Black and first South Asian vice president of America.

She was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

At the beginning of the inauguration ceremony, Lady Gaga performed the US National Anthem with the US marine band, using a golden mic. She had a golden dove-shaped broach pinned to her coat.

Jennifer Lopez performed “America the Beautiful” after Kamala Harris took the oath of office.

Former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were present on the occasion. However, former President Trump was not present, but his vice president Mike Pence attended the ceremony.
