Danish catalyst maker Haldar Topsoe plans to build a large-scale facility to produce electrolyzers that would be used to produce green hydrogen and can reduce the cost by 20 percent.
Haldor Topsoe plans to roll out its new facility to produce highly efficient Solid Oxide Electrolyzer (SOEC) by 2023, the company said this week, adding that factory electrolyzers could reduce green hydrogen production costs by another 20 percent, the report said.
Haldar Topsoe said that highly efficient solid oxide electrolyzers with a capacity of 500 MW (MW) per year will invest in the manufacturing sector, with the option to increase by 5 gigawatts (GW) per year, according to Oil Price.
SOLEC electrolyzer Haldor Topsoe has developed more than 90 percent efficiency, the company said, adding that hydrogenation offers higher performance than standard alkali or polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzers in hydrogen.
Haldor Topsoe says the company’s SOEC technology provides 30 percent larger hydrogen outputs than standard technologies such as PEM and alkaline electrical analysis.
