Stocks on Sunday opened the week up with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges with upwards onlhigher activities of large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were fuel and power and textile. A total of 125 securities moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 37.40 points up at 5,517.02. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 5.30 points up at 1,255.12 and with 12.40 points up at 2,123.32.
Out of the 361 issues traded at the DSE, 180 gained against 104 losing issues.
The trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 14,069.64 million from the previous session’s Taka 11,728.88 million and the trade volume also rose to 35.50 crore from 28.72 crore shares of Thursday’s trading.
The five major gaining companies were KPCL, Makson Spinning, Matin Spinning, PTL, Argon Denim, Malek Spinning, MHSML, DSSL, Metro Spinning and Queen South.
The major losing issues are AOL, Rupali Insurance, Paramount, Midas Finance, Northern Insurance, RECKITTBEN, CAPMIBBLMF, GRAMEENS2, All Tex and ICBSONALI1.
The top five turnover leaders were Beximco, Provati Insurance, NFML, Beximco Pharma and LHBL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 128.26 points higher at 15,973.05.
At the CSE, 267 issues were traded. Of those, 145 issues closed higher while 82 issues lower.
