Hong Kong stocks opened lower on Wednesday following declines on Wall Street as US data showing a surprise jump in inflation raised investor concerns over Federal Reserve policy.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.27 percent, or 75.40 points, to 27,888.01 in the first few minutes of trade.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index retreated 0.51 percent, or 18.27 points, to 3,548.25, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange slipped 0.39 percent, or 9.79 points, to 2,482.18.
