Palak joins Bangladesh-Korea Road Show in capital

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today joined the Bangladesh-Korea Drone Road Show 2022 Conference as the chief guest at a city hotel.

Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dhaka arranged the conference while Republic of Korea Ambassador to Bangladesh LEE Jang-keun addressed it as the special guests.

Palak said a good term remains between Bangladesh and Republic of Korea after the Liberation War.

“We started works with Korea in readymade garments sector 40 years ago. Now Bangladesh is the second largest exporters of readymade garment products in the world,” he said.

The government has been making its all-out strides to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041, the state minister said, adding “South Korea stays beside Bangladesh as a friend nation in achieving the goal. South Korea has played an important role in creating backbone of Bangladesh’s internet network.

Korean private sector is working efficiently in Bangladesh in the IT sector while Bangladesh also remains ready to serve the global industry, Palak said.

Bangladesh is working to welcome startups, innovators and new potential initiatives, he said adding that the road show would encourage startups and innovators in technological sector and it will be very much conducive to them.

“We are interested to join such collaboration and exchange programme in the days to come as well,” he said.

He underscored the need for using drone technology in resolving various daily needs. Drone technology can be used in preventing water pollution, he added.

The state minister urged the students and young generation to learn about drone technology for using it for the betterment of the nation.

Six Korean institutions presented drone and geographic information system (GIS) related products and services in the conference.

Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) Managing Director Engineer Taqsem A. Khan, Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) Managing Director Malik Fida A Khan were present, among others.
