The general point to point inflation rate in
December last year eased further as it fell to 8.71 percentage point mainly
because of the downtrend in food and non-food inflation.
The general point to point inflation rate in November last was 8.85
percentage, according to the monthly consumer price (CPI) index of the
Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The point to point food inflation came down at 7.91 percent in December from
8.14 percent in November.
On the other hand, the point to point non-food inflation also declined
slightly to 9.96 percentage down from 9.98 percentage registered in November.
The BBS data showed that the general point to point inflation in the rural
areas has slightly declined to 8.86 percentage down from 8.94 percentage in
November.
However, the general point to point inflation rate in the urban areas also
declined to 8.43 percentage down from 8.70 percentage registered in November.
The national wage index rate in December reached 7.03 percentage up from 6.98
percentage point posted in November.
