Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 7.18 points or 0.12 per cent to settle at 6,185.06. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 0.73 point to finish at 2,192.16 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.21 points to close at 1,352.23.

Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 1,989.03 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 1,465.11 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 332 issues traded, 44 advanced, 118 declined and 170 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ICICL was the day’s top gainer, rising 9.73 per cent, while ORIONINFU was the worst loser, shedding 7.49 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI –gaining 12.53 points to settle at 18,271.25 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 7.60 points to close at 10,947.99.

Of the issues traded, 39 declined, 29 advanced and 102 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 12.67 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 7.56 crore.
