President M Abdul Hamid today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of renowned playwright, theatre activist and filmmaker Mannan Hira.
In a condolence message, the head of the state prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
A Bangla Academy Award-winner, Mannan Hira suffered a cardiac arrest at his Kakrail residence here. Later, he was rushed to Islami Bank Hospital at Shahjahanpur, where doctors declared him dead at 8:30 pm, said a family source.
Mannan Hira was 64. He is survived by his wife and a son.
He was a member of Aranyak Natya Dal and involved in the street
theater movement. He was the former president of Bangladesh Path Natok
Parishad.
