An English-medium school female student was allegedly murdered after rape at Kalabagan area in the capital on Thursday.

The student was identified as Anushka Noor Amin. She was an ‘O’ Level student of Mastermind School.

It was learnt that several suspects were detained in connection with the incident. They included the girl’s friend Dihan.

Family sources of the murdered student alleged that their daughter was an ‘O’ Level student at Mastermind School in the city. “She was murdered after rape at Dolphin Golli in Kalabagan area on Thursday afternoon,” they alleged.

They also alleged that Anushka was murdered after rape.

The family members said Anushka went to the residence of her friend early Thursday afternoon to celebrate the latter’s birthday. “She was killed there after rape,” the sources said.

Relatives said the student went out of her house telling her mother that she was going to her girlfreind’s house at Kalabagan to celebrate birthday. She was later tortured and killed.

When the matter was known, she was rushed to Anwar Khan Modern Hospital for admission.

However, doctors there instantly informed police witnessing that the girl had died.

Sajjadur Rahman, deputy police commissioner of Ramna Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said, “We’ve recovered the girl’s body from Anwer Khan Modern Medical Hospital at Dhanmondi. The doctors at the hospital pronounced her dead after she was taken there. However, she was not admitted. Her friend Dihan took her to the hospital and we detained him. Later, her three friend went to the hospital and we also detained them. We’re investigating the matter.”

The DC said the body of the girl was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for postmortem. “We would be able to say how the girl died after receiving the postmortem report.”

Abul Hasan of the New Market Police Station, said Thursday night that process was going to file a case in connection with the incident happened at Dolphin Golli in Kalabagan area.
