‘Anti-state quarters want to take advantage of Rozina issue’

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the anti-state quarters are trying to take advantage of journalist Rozina Islam issue that occurred in the Health Ministry. Everybody should be alert so that they do not get any chance to take advantage of the issue.

He told this to the reporters after a meeting with the newly elected committee of the Directors Guild, an association of TV playwrights, at his official residence on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday (May 22).

The Minister said, “You see, it took a long time for Amnesty International to make a statement after hundreds of deaths, including of women and children, in Palestine, but they spoke out over Rozina issue just the following day though it is under trial.”

He said, “Various anti-state groups who sit abroad and conspire against the country, spread slander and spread propaganda have also been seen to be active. Mushfiqur Fazal, former Deputy Press Secretary of Begum Khaleda Zia went to the regular press briefing of the UN Secretary General’s Office and asked a question and got a public media response from an official. It was publicized that the United Nations expressed concern about Rozina. A UN official’s statement and UN concern’s are not the same.”

Awami League joint general secretary Hasan Mahmud reminded that neither the minister nor the secretary nor Rozina Islam is above the law.
