State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md. Enamur Rahman has said the tidal wave due to cyclone Yaas has caused damages in 27 Upazilas of 9 coastal districts. Yaas has crossed the coast of India. Bangladesh is now completely free from its impacts.
He came up with the statement while briefing media over the cyclone situation at the conference room of the ministry in the Secretariat on Wednesday (May 26).
The state minister said 27 upazilas of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Noakhali and Laxmipur districts have been affected by the high tide. The affected upazilas include Shyamnagar, Asashuni, Koyra, Dakop, Paikgachha, Sharankhola, Mongla, Morelganj, Mathbaria, Barguna Sadar, Patharghata, Amtali, Patuakhali Sadar, Galachipa, Rangabali, Dashmina, Mirzaganj, Mirzaganj, Kolapara, Charfasion, Monpura, Tojumuddin, Daulatkhan, Borhanuddin, Bhola Sadar, Hatiya, Ramgati and Kamalnagar.
He further said 16,500 packets of dry and other food items have been allotted in favor of the concerned deputy commissioners (DCs) to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of the 27 upazilas.
