‘Shishu Bokta’ Rafiqul placed on 3-day remand again

A court in Dhaka has again granted a three-day remand to Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as “Shishu Bokta”, in a sabotage case filed with the Paltan police station in the capital.

A virtual court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order on Thursday (May 27).

Meanwhile, Rafiqul Islam was shown present virtually from the jail, not producing him before the court. Police sought a seven-day remand for him.

Rafiqul Islam was arrested on April 7 in a case filed by the RAB under the Digital Security Act for making provocative statements. The elite force arrested Rafiqul Islam from his village home. Later, he was placed on remand in cases filed in Mymensingh and Gazipur police stations.

The court later placed him on remand for 11 days in the two cases filed with Motijheel Police Station over the violence on March 25 this year. He was sent to jail on May 10 on completion of remand in the two cases.
