Bangladesh has approved the Covid-19 vaccine CoronaVac developed by China’s Sinovac Life Sciences Company Limited for emergency use in a bid to prevent coronavirus infections.
Confirming the matter in a press release issued on Sunday (June 06), Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) Maj Gen Md Mahbubur Rahman said the DGDA gave the go ahead on June 3, after M/s Incepta Vaccine Ltd applied for its approval for emergency use.
The DGDA said that CoronaVac is the fifth vaccine to be given the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).
The World Health Organization (WHO) approved the emergency use of Sinovac vaccine on June 1.
22 more countries around the world have already approved the emergency use of the Sinovac jab.Earlier, Bangladesh approved Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine developed by Serum Institute, Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, China’s Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for emergency use.
