A woman and her two-year-old daughter were killed in a fire that broke out at a flat in Mulaid village under Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.

The deceased were known as Sonia Jannat, 25, wife of Golam Mostafa and her daughter Humasa Jannat, 2.

Fire service sources and locals said, the fire originated from a gas cylinder at the fifth floor of the building around 11:00am, leaving the duo burned injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Sheikh Hasina National Burnt and Plastic Surgery Institute where they died under treatment this evening.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost In-charge ASI Abdul Khan confirmed the matter.
