Cabinet Division Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said that a nationwide complete lockdown will be imposed for a week starting from July 1 to prevent the coronavirus infection.
He told this to the reporters after the regular cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Monday (June 28) noon.
The secretary said, “Strict restrictions will be imposed across the country from July 1 until July 7 as per the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Notification in this regard will be issued on Tuesday.”
He said, “Nobody will be allowed to go out of home during the complete lockdown without extreme emergency. All public transports will remain suspended. All government and private offices except emergency service ones, shopping malls and markets will remain closed. Decision on keeping open mills, factories and garments will be taken on Tuesday.”
The cabinet secretary said, “Police, BGB and Army will be deployed to enforce the restrictions during the complete lockdown. Health regulations including wearing masks will be ensured.”
“No movement pass will be issued by police this time,” he added.
