National airlines have been given permission to operate domestic flights to facilitate overseas passengers holding international tickets to arrive in Dhaka. Except this, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has announced the suspension of all types of domestic flights during the lockdown.
A notification issued by CAAB in this regard revealed the matter on Monday (July 5) afternoon.
The government has imposed strict restrictions across the country from July 1 to July 7 to prevent the second wave of the coronavirus infection. The Ministry of Public Administration on Monday issued a circular in this regard extending the restrictions until July 14. During the restrictions, the operation of all the public transports including domestic flights have been suspended. However, international flights will be operated as usual.
According to CAAB, local airlines– Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Novo Air and US Bangla– can operate domestic flights to carry overseas passengers with heath guidelines. Passengers who would flew from abroad will also use the flights. However, passengers without international ticket holders cannot be transported by the flights.
