Govt to recruit 8,500 nurses through PSC

The government will recruit 8,500 nurses to increase services in the public hospitals to face Covid-19.

The government has directed the Public Service Commission (PSC) to recruit nurses from the initially selected candidates without issuing a separate circular considering the corona situation.

According to sources, a circular was issued on March 1 last year for the recruitment of 2,500 senior staff nurses. Later, due to increase of corona infection in the country, it was decided to recruit 4,000 nurses from the candidates who applied as per circular. The government has recently directed to recruit more nurses as the corona situation has become more serious. As part of this, the government has sent a demand letter for recruitment of 8,534 nurses from the candidates who applied for jobs. The demand letter reached PSC last Wednesday.

In this regard, PSC Chairman Sohrab Hossain said “The government has given special instructions for the appointment of nurses and doctors. That is why we are giving it the highest priority. If the PSC has as many qualified candidates, then there is no problem in recruiting”.
