Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that 60 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine are set to arrive in Bangladesh under Covax facility in early August.
The Minister made the disclosure to the reporters while visiting the field hospital at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSSMU) convention centre in the capital on Saturday (July 10).
Zahid Maleque said, “A letter sent by the World Health Organisation (WHO) reached the country on Friday (July 9). They said that they would provide us 60 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine in early August. Besides, 50 lakh more doses of Chinese vaccine will arrive in the country in the late June or early August.”
He further said, “We hope that we would get 1 to 1.5 crore doses of vaccine by the next half and a month. Except this, some more doses of vaccine are supposed to reach the country.”
The Minister said, “We are trying our best. Our doctors and nurses have been working tirelessly for the last half and a year. Many also embraced death. As a result, their families became looser. We hope that you will express your sympathy to them and give them courage.”
