A Narayanganj court has placed eight people, who were arrested over the deadly fire that broke out at a factory of Hashem Food and Beverage Ltd of the district’s Rupganj, on a four-day remand in a case filed in this connection.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Fahmida Khanam passed the order on Saturday (July 10).

The convicts are: Md Abul Hashem, 70, Hasib Bin Hashem, 39, Tarek Ibrahim, 35, Tausif Ibrahim, 33, Tanjim Ibrahim, 21, Shahan Shah Azad, 43, Mamunur Rashid, 54, and Md Salauddin, 30.

The fire broke out in the factory on Thursday night, killing at least 52 workers and dozens injured.
