16 more people have died from coronavirus infections and coronavirus-like symptoms while undergoing treatment at the corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

Confirming the matter this morning, RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani said the deaths were reported in the last 24 hours starting from 8:00am on Friday (July 16) to 8:00am today, Saturday (July 17).

Of the 16 deaths, eight were coronavirus positive, six died of symptoms similar to that of coronavirus and the remaining two died of breathing problems, he said.

Of the dead, nine were in Rajshahi district, two in Chapainawabganj, one in Natore, three in Pabna and one in Kushtia, he added.

With them, the number of Covid-19 deaths in the hospital rose to 298 in 17 days of this month.

A total of 354 people died at the corona unit of the hospital in the month of June.
