A police officer was killed allegedly by some staffs of Mind Aid Hospital in the capital’s Adabor on Monday night.
The deceased is Anisul Karim Shipon. He was working as the assistant commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police’s traffic department.
Police detained six staffs of the hospital including its Manager after the incident.
According to source, Anisul was mentally ill and went to the hospital for treatment around 11:45 pm. Later, he was beaten to death allegedly by some hospital staffs.
However, the hospital authorities claimed that they calmed the police officer down as he behaved rudely.
In this connection, Faruk Molla, Inspector of Adabor Police Station, said Anisul returned home in Gazipur from Barishal on Monday. He came for treatment as he had been a little ill mentally.
Harunor Rashid, the deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said some untrained employees of the hospital beat Anisul to death in the name of treatment.
