Bangladesh reported 2,212 coronavirus cases and 39 deaths recorded in the 24 hours to 8am on Tuesday.
The day’s death toll turns out to be the second highest since September 21, when the country registered 40 coronavirus deaths.
With the latest, total deaths and cases now stand at 6,254 and 436,684 respectively, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release.
Coronavirus cases have also risen in the last couple of days, raising fears of the second wave in the winter season.
Just a day before, the country recorded a number of cases that is the highest in the last 70 days.
A total of 1,749 Covid patients recovered during the last 24 hours under review, the DGHS added on Tuesday.
According to the DGHS release, a total of 15,990 samples were tested at the country’s 115 authorised labs during the same period, bringing the total number of samples tested to over 2.5 million so far.
