Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has claimed that the prices of various essential commodities are being increased by creating syndicates in markets. The government is working to break these syndicates.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said this while speaking at a view exchange meeting with the leaders of Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League (south unit) and its associate bodies at AL President Political Office in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Friday (October 23) noon.
Quader said, “There are syndicates in markets. However, the government has not failed to deal with them. They increase the prices of different products through various manipulations. The government is trying its best to break the syndicates. Those responsible are working to keep the prices of products within the purchasing ability.
Mentioning that the prices of commodities go up a bit during the monsoon season, he hoped that the prices would come down soon.
