EEA selects DigiPlex’s colocation offering in Denmark

DigiPlex, a provider of sustainable data center collection, has reached an agreement with the European Environment Agency (EEA) to host the server park. Earlier, EEA had installed its server infrastructure in a server room at their offices in Copenhagen, Dominica. The servers have now moved to the DigiPlex’s colocation data center in Copenhagen.

Located in the heart of Copenhagen, the European Environment Agency has reviewed its data protection strategies. It became clear to them that they had to upgrade the server room structure on their site to significantly improve protection against fire and water damage. Server room ventilation and cooling systems also need to be upgraded to modern standards.

The various cloud and data center aggregate options were evaluated based on a number of operational and financial parameters. In the end, an aggregate solution with DigiPlex was selected in Copenhagen.

The European Environment Agency has many small applications that handle the same workload throughout the year. It became an economical way to transfer applications to public clouds provided by AWS or Azure. Moreover, they were not designed to benefit them from such transfers. An alternative solution to the “expensive” overhaul of facilities is to rent space and acquire server room skills from the data center. The possibility of engaging and teaming up with suppliers with green and sustainable profiles was a key priority.
