Bangladesh Bank has asked all commercial banks to continue operating on a limited scale till midnight on May 5 amid the “ongoing restrictions on movement to curb Covid-19 transmission.”
Except the weekly holidays, clients will be be to conduct banking activities from 10:00am to 1:00pm during the period. However, branches will remain open until 2:30pm to complete their regular procedures, according to a circular issued by the Off-site Supervision Division of the Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday.
The circular also directed the banks to keep one of their branches open at upazila level on Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays.
Besides, ATM booths will remain open round-the-clock. At the same time, the online services including internet banking will remain in operation,
Moreover, bank branches at sea, land and airports will remain open to carry on import-export activities.
The decision came after the government announced that it would extend the restrictions on movement across the nation that began on April 14 by another week in order to keep the coronavirus pandemic at bay.
