The teachers, officials and employees of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) have issued a three-point ultimatum demanding to lift the ban imposed on recruitment by the Ministry of Education since 2019.
On March 9 (Tuesday), the teachers, officials, and employees of the university held full daybreak and sit-in programs on the premises of the Shaheed Minar in this connection.
A three-point ultimatum was announced to meet the demand that includes human chain and sit-in program in front of the Noakhali Press Club on March 14, human chain in front of the Dhaka National Press Club, distribution of press release and memorandum on March 21 and fast-unto-death program from March 28, 2021.
The meeting was chaired by Maznur Rahman, General Secretary of the Teachers’ Association.
Deans, hall-provosts, chairmen, officers, and employees of different departments addressed the meeting. The speakers urged the Ministry of Education to lift the ban immediately to continue the education in the university.
In this regard, the president of the NSTU Teachers Association Professor Dr. Newaz Mohammed Bahadur said, ‘We want to meet the demand through peaceful movement in Noakhali. If the demand is not met, we will go for peaceful movement in Dhaka again.’
UGC members- Professor Dr.Abu Taher and Professor Dr. Mohammad Alamgir- however, have denied making comments in this regard.
